How to get BCRA News

BCRA has not issued newsletters on paper since 2016. Instead, we use the following methods of issuing news. These are all customer-managed – that is, you have to sign up yourself.

The Notices E-List

The Notices E-list is a traditional e-mailing list or email reflector; it uses a software package known as Mailman. Customers can subscribe, whether or not they are members of BCRA, and we aim to send out short notices approximately monthly. The information in these postings is usually duplicated on the BCRA News Forum and at UKcaving.com.

It is important to understand that the Notices list is intended to be managed by customers. BCRA does not have a master mailing list by which we can contact all our members. This decision was made because a substantial proportion of our membership has indicated, via the application form, that they do not wish to receive emails from us. Conversely, we have a lot of interest from non-members in our activities. Therefore, we decided that a traditional mailing list is the best way of managing communications. When you join BCRA you are invited to sign up to our Notices list, but management of this subscription rests entirely with you, the customer.

History: We started using Mailman for our Notices list in June 2013. The monthly 'News' subject headings began in January 2014. If you want to read old email postings to the Notices list, the info is – as noted above – mostly duplicated on the BCRA News Forum and at UKcaving.com. Full copies of the actual Mailman messages are stored in the Mailman archive. Please see our news archive for further information.

BCRA Review

The BCRA Review (ISSN 2516-1423) is our annual magazine and contains information about BCRA, and articles. It can be found at BCRA Review

AGM Notices

AGM notices are issued via the above routes (E-list, Forum and Facebook). They are also posted to our AGM page

We no longer issue paper newsletters. Our previous paper newsletters are archived online and can be downloaded from our news archive.
